Pass Your CompTIA SY0-301 Exam Easy!

I took the 220-702 exam and failed wth 624 (needed at least 700). I need help wth this test..im trying to download the file but it doesnt work. How do i open this VCE file? Any help would be greatly appreciated

Passed today morning 857/900 at prometrics in Georgia, usa.


I have no background with security+ and I was very nervous and anxious about this exam. I repeatedly went through this dump, went through all professor messors video, went through the dump once which has 477 questions which is from 2011 stressing myself on studying this material even in the weekends.And here is what I found out on the test today.

80 questions were word to word from this dump.
rest of the 20 questions were randomly picked from the old dump with CompTIA Actualtests SY0-301 v2011-09-09 by BigLee 477q.vce and from the practice exam CD which comes with CompTIA Security+ Deluxe Study Guide: SY0-301: Emmett Dulaney .

If you study this dump you will pass with 80% without doubt and if you want to get 100% then you might have to go through above things.

Passed this morning 875/900 @ Prometric and since I used everyones comments here to help me I figured it only right to add my own input as well.

This dump helped slightly (10-12 word for word) but mostly because I cross referenced everything. Watching the Messer video plus Virtual Testing Company videos (downloaded from demenoid) helped alot, these videos map either directly or very closely to material on the exam.

Also the boobhe questions as everyone else has also verified appeared on the exam as well, I will try to think of some questions and add them later.

I used the new actual test file that was published last week and took the exam today. I also read the Darril Gibson book this week. I got a 840. I say off the PDF there was about 70 percent of the questions which I went over once last night with the additional questions being posted by Boobhe. Overall one of the easiest exams I had to take due to the reading of the book.

I passed. There were a few wordfor word may be 3%. and questions similar about 40%. Study more than the questions.

@lgreen: I took the test today - scoring above 850. The Dion, Netbel, Herbit, and Leesa dumps (these all had roughly 290-299 questions) all use the same questions. I did NOT see any new questions in the two new dumps (Herbit, Leesa) that were also on the exam. I also used the JTDion dump (330 questions) to study. I suggest also using the Professor Messer videos, and a book. I didn't have a book and it would have REALLY helped with referencing the questions on the dumps. Instead I had to Google search and cross reference every answer on the dumps to see why it was correct. I couldn't find any free study guides/books on the internet, so I was mostly using Wikipedia and Professor Messer for referencing. Buy a book - it'll be much easier!!

For other questions, scroll down the page to see Boobhe's posts about newer questions. I had a lot of the questions he listed on the test. If you use any of the 290-299 dumps, and the 330 question certkey JTDion dump, and ProfMess and/or a book, you should pass just fine. You will see 30-50% word for word questions from the dumps, the rest are reworded or completely different altogether. DON'T just do the dumps and assume you'll pass - learn the concepts!

Can someone who took the test take a look at the two newest vce posts and let us know if they have some of the newer questions?

Hey, I just finished my exam in the DC area. I used Dion and 330 and there were less than 10 questions from the dump on my exam. I scored an 851, but I knew my stuff and just used the exams as practice.

There were some really weird questions to look out for, like which AAA uses TCP, which AAA doesn't use TCP, I had to know some really weird command for buffer overflow prevention/injection prevention.

These dumps don't work, they're awesome practice, but they have some wrong answers and like I said I barely saw any answers on the exam.

When I took my test many of the questions were familiar to the 293/330 dump. I would say approximatley 20-25 questions were exactly the same, but I do recall that several questions were scenarios where as it is important to completely read and understand the question and the associated "answer" . Time used per question is critical, thus if you need to re-study the question I ask you to click the 'Mark" tab and continue to move forward. Unlike completing my A+ exams with much time to spare, the Sec+ exam took me much of the allowed time. I did a Power-Down right after my test, but I will review all my notes and provide you with what I perceive are the questions. I have a few of my co-workers who are STRESSED and preparing for the exam. I will assist them as much as possible. I'm not completely convinced that the dumps; ver baitam will hava an affect on the exam. the 293 and 330 dump are very familiar, were as approximately 35 question on the 330 dump are not on the 293 dump. I even studied the 447 dump questions as well, but my exam experience wasn't that much different. I had several 201 questions as well.

I agree with rl, I passed my exam in washington DC areas today too. so study this dump and the 330q dump from certkey. it isn't word by word, so make sure you understand the questions.

I just completed and passed my exam 3 hours ago. I'm in Colorado and I think that the 330 and 293 dumps covered a majority of my questions: One question that I didn't recall or review was TCP/UDP port 53. Now that I've done a down-load, I will make an attempt to provide some insight.

I just took the test and passed with a very high score. I studied this test, test 447q from December, JTDion, a CompTIA prep book and I followed this forum. In my opinion, you need to study

1) a book or maybe the Messer vids(I haven't seen them)

2) Study the practice tests. If you have time study all of the questions. The questions are not word for word but you will see the concepts over and over so when they show up on the test you will be ready. I also would take a random 100 question test with 90:00 time limit. I did 3 or 4 of these.

3) Follow this forum

Just took the test this morning. got an 859. i will confirm that the latest certkey and actual dump account for 60% of the test. i don't know what you need to pass probably somewhere around 70-75%? so even if you can make an educated guess on most of the rest you have a reasonably good chance. the test pulled much more from certkey that it did from actual. alot of the other questions are covered here by boobhe. I did get the question about "halon", also got the question about user rights and pretty much every other question mentioned here. between the questions mentioned here, and the two dumps there were like 10 questions total i had never seen. ps i took the test in Tennessee. good luck!

The Dion dump is about 30% valid and this one is about 10% valid word for word. The rest of the questions aren't worded the same but the same concept. If you understand the concepts you will pass. I got a passing score of 818. I studied from both dumps and it helped alot. Good luck to everyone.

I used Dion's ActualTest and the JT certkey. I tested in Germany through Pearson Vue. The Halon question was not on my test, nor was the question about SCADA. Jabber is the new name for MOVI, I HD video cam you you with your laptop for vedeo teleconferencing. Two eaasy question about Whaling. One question aboutt wwitch wireless protocal automatically authenticates keys, or something to that effect. Two option I can remember were WPA-enterprise and WPA2-PSK. I chose WPA-PSK. Wich to configure first on a new wireless router, I selected Password, other option were encryption, SSID, and Power Levels. All of the information on this page plus the two dumps I mentioned locked the test for me. If you study enough qeustions you will know what answer there looking for before you get half way through the question. I will add more as I remember, I will try to answer all questions Good Luck!!

Took the test today, scored 840. Dion's dump and the certkey dump will get you 75% of the test. The rest are pretty tricky but if you take your time and look at the answers and questions a few times they will make sense. Know what Jabber is RIO, SIP, and RDP. The book get Certified get Ahead reads like the test was made from it. I will add more info once I can think straight again.

K - now I'm a little confused, should I be looking over the 330q preplogic, or this 293q - or are they both fairly the same anyway.?

I took the exam today and Boobhe and Roscoe are correct. I scored an 840 using this dump, certkey and prof messer videos. The questions that Boobhe provided were on there and a lot of questions from this dump are there either word-for-word or just reworded. Pay attention to the question and understand what they are asking and you will pass.

Another question I remember was that servers in the same location are suddenly acting abnormally. Slow to respond. The choices were all environmental.
- Servers not in hot or cold aisles.
-HVAC system failed causing CPU to spike and throttle. (this one sounds more legit since it happened suddenly)

- What is the best fire suppression in a server room that will not damage resources.

Just took the test in East coast USA. I passed with a high grade. Basically it was pretty much what Boobhe said. I owe that man a huge debt. The dion dump is valid. I know there are people that say they got 10 questions and a guy from UK who said he got 2 questions, but the test was 65-70% from Dion 293 questions dump. The questions that were different area already in this thread posted by boobhe. I didn't see all the questions he put down, but most.

Three questions that threw me had to do with RADIUS , TACACS+ and Kerberos.
Know that RADIUS uses UDP and is port 1812. There are two questions about authentication protocol that uses UDP. TACACS+ uses TCP . double check.
Also , which one uses AAA. The answer is TACACS+. I got that one wrong but luckily got the other two RADIUS questions right (UDP authentication protocol).

If your taking the exam in USA this week, study Dion dump, study the questions posted by boobhe and learn about the Authentication protocols I just mentioned above.

I just took my test, got 807. At best 13 questions from this dump!!! Guys, I know that the only reasson I passed is because I actually cracked open a book (SY**X) and studied. For future test takers, wait for a new VALIDATED dump. Word to the wise, if you use this dump alone, you WILL fail.

Just took and pass test with a 813.I am in Kuwait but I took it at The US Army base. Most of the question was from the previous 2 dumps plus the one that was just release, but the questions was all reworded. I don't think I would of pass if I didn't study the signal train video along with the dumps.

With the provided questions, I have only scene a few of the questions on any of the training material that I have used recently. Is there a anticipated timeline on when a valid dump will be released. With respect, what material is available that actually captures the questions?

@Jimmy Gambino - unfortunately I believe you are correct sir. I went over it most of / any of the questions that were not in the actualtests recent dump were pulled from previous dumps. And further more, Boobhe provided knowledge of remember questions from the exam and NONE of them are in the certkey dump. I don't have any faith in it, but as another tool to sharpen your skills. Anyone that takes the test over the next couple of weeks is going to have to do it old school. So happy I went over all the Prof. Messer videos. They laid a very very strong foundation. Unfortunately the "new" 330 question certkey is a scam. All of the questions ARE from old tests. They put it together because they heard about the security+ test being changed and everyone panicking. What this means is that this new dump is really really old and there are no dumps with comptia's new questions

I just reviewed the certkey and I didn't find some of the Qs on it but not all. Question #47,52, 55, 61, 77, 80, 89, 104, 121, and 165 came up. I will try to remember all the the new Qs as much as I can even if it is just a hint or a phrase at least it will help. I'll post it as soon as I can.
Here's two that I remembered right away -1st Q was SCADA and 2nd Q was jabber.
On the SCADA - this was the right answer - just research it.
Jabber - question was regarding voip so I dont know if I answered this correctly.

When you look at the "modified" date of the PDF, it gives a date of January 20th, 2012.

I just took this today Feb 24, 2012. I studied for the exam with just this dump and scored 825. There were a lot of different questions I will say 40%. You still can pass it as 20% of the new questions are common sense. It was nerve racking I thought I'll fail but I guess I got lucky. To the others with the .pdf make sure you alsogot the new questions. An example q will be "what pseudocode will create a ciphertext by just replacing the letters" . Answer is digital certificate.

I have an associate who just attempted to down load the certkey doc. but it won't down load. In speaking with here 20 minutes ago the vendor is in the UK but she is not able to contact them. Is there something specific she needs to do to capture the down load. I haven't down loaded from the vendor previously. Also, is the a stateside phone number she can call who can assiste her. Once completed, I too will help each of you.

Passed the test with +800. Very little from the dumps! Study, study, study. If you use these dumps, use them to study each answer. Why is "a, b and d" wrong? Why is "c" right? That's the only way to suceed at the test. It is a difficult one!

@dougie, sorry no. I would if I could. I'm going to have to pass this eventually too. Her manager only gave them print outs and everyone had to turn them back in after they completed their exam.

One of my co-workers had to take SY0-301 to meet DoD 8570 requirements, they were informed late, so they only had inside of 30 days to pass it. Her manager gave them print outs (yeah that's a lot of paper). The most recent print out was of the 02-19-2012 certkey. She said it covered the questions in her exam and she passed. I believe it was at a Pearson Vue site.

I have a co-worker who said he used the latest certkey version. He bought it yesterday and tested this morning. He said it was right on and he passed. He won't give it to anyone, though. I tried.
I would purchase it, but I just cannot afford it right now. I have already purchased another one that has not been updated yet. It still shows 293 questions. I test on Tuesday.

I just received the Actual Tests SYO-301 Version 11.2. Is this the most current dump? It has 293 questions. My previous Version 11.0 had 260 questions.

RE: JT John Cougar is technically and ethically correct. Actually knowing something holds more weight that just memorizing answers on a test. Granted, not everyone "needs" to know Sec+ content because it is irrelevant to their work function, that is why I'm here. However, I normally wouldn't condone or encourage this method as a general rule. I certainly wouldn't want to have a surgeon who memorized med test answers operating on me. I'm sure there are many people on this site simply looking for practice tests. Your assumptions and lack of tact tarnish the JT reputation in this thread.

I don't understand why these people come in here and talk sh***t? If you aren't looking for exams, why are you in here? . Don't they have better things to do in their live? For your information, I study in old fashion too. I have been reading 2 or more books for this exam. I want to make sure passing exam the first time, and not wasting $276.

It is my understanding that they way it works is; Comptia will pull a series of questions from a large pool and use those questions on tests for a particular length of time. Upon the conclusion of said timeframe, they repeat the process. This is why there are multiple versions of "study guides" posted here. The newest being the ActualTests dated 2/19 Are you saying that each individual test now randomly pulls1xx questions from a 1xxx question pool? Has this recently changed? Is there documented proof? I'm not trying to be argumentative, simply gathering accurate information so I can evaluate the best direction to proceed. Believe me, simply using Outlook is enough of a challenge for some people, let alone understanding RDP porting through a firewall.

RE: Boss I understand your concern 100%, but the CompTIA discovered this scheme and changed all your exams, so if you want to follow my advice, it is best to put their employees to study in the "old fashion" way, but you do what you understand, you have only 30 days to decide! Anyway copy was never something right or legal so do not expect some kind of facilities, good luck!

RE: John Cougar I agree with you 100%.knowledge is power. I'm simply saying that I have DoD contractors who look at a system 1 time a week for approx 3 minutes. Because of these 3 minutes, they need to be technically certified. I don't expect my staff to learn and understand all aspects of security and certainly not withinin 30 days. DoD made a sh!tty move in making this a requirement. It's like saying a receptionist at the doctor's office needs her PhD because she sometimes sees a prescription pad. Right now I'm just trying to do what I can to allow these people to keep their jobs.especially in this economy.

Folks I study in "old fashioned" way, this is the best way that you can do to achieve your goals! Only memorize the entire questions is the wrong way, because when someone ask you one question you just do not know the answer. I believe that is better know things(Concepts of Security/Network) and have no certificate, that to be certified and know nothing! But each knows your life, loses some time to study you'll have better results than memorizing.

RE: Comptia Cert Revoker Why you would come on her "claim" to be something you're obviously not, is beyond me. I have my cert, but a lot of my staff does not. Many of them have zero IT background and DoD is requiring the cert simply because these staff members look at 1 particular database on occasion. My folks have been given a 30 day deadline so, I wouldn't expect a non-tech person to pick-up everything needed to pass the test by studying the "old fashioned" way for a cert that isn't even relevant to the job.
