The BranchAdmins ALREADY have rights to manage client computers. Either they were granted those rights by membership in the local administrators group OR they are already Domain Admins.

In this case, for the security requirements to be met, they would only need to be able to Install Updates and drivers on the domain controllers. so it's gonna be OK to answer the questions slightly different from those you got at this dump.

People be careful with with 2 questions in testlet U:

number 1- you're requested to configure role services that are necessary to meet the technical requirements and the dump says it's FSRM, DFS and Branch Cache. If you look through exhibit carefully you won't find any relevant requirement for FSRM,but instead of this you are requested to use NTFS quotas(!). I'm pretty sure it's misprinting and FSRM quotas are implied here. Nowadays it's very difficult to imagine any firm using NTFS quotas,coz it became completely obsolete after FSRM came in usage

8th question-about file replication strategy. It says it's B and in explanation we read that DFS-Replication uses AD DS replication. I'm not that sure cause at first replication is initiated by the primary member (so it's TADATA01 according to the question) and than members are replicated among each other and DCs don't take part here at any step.So,for me the correct answer is C.

Performing offline domain join prevents the server from needing an extra reboot like normally needed when joining a computer to the domain.

Passed 855 now MCITP the dump is valid one new question about copying ADMX files into the POLICY folder? This comes up in a new testlet names North(something) Not Northwind Traders, but there is only a few questions there the majority are known. there are also a couple of other questions that threw me but nothing that I couldnt handle (also studied books cbt etc I suggest you do to), Humongus came up, Proseware came up, City power and light came up, woodgrove came up, erm drag and drop came up about three of them.
Words of advice when studying (Minimize = Servre 2008 standard, or look for the lease affort with the samg goal) (Managing GPO = Desktop Optermisation), (finding folders fast = folder redirection usually) this is a biggy anything that mentions IIS, Web or Intranet server and NLB is an option it usually is the answer, To assign a program is to force it to a computer, to publish is to give the user the option to use the app

Hi Saturn007, looking at this closely I think the answer is correct, looking at the case study the administrators are in the main office and administer the branch office servers remotly that requires them to be in the Dom admin group.
But saying that I would have to agree in normal circumstances Role Seperation is correct but not with this particualr case study.
That is what I read from it anyway (I could be getting it wrong) Any more thoughts anyone?

I have come across a Q which I think has an incorrect answer.

Q5 A Datum about recommending a strategy for managing the DCs in branch offices to meet the company's security req.

In the sec req, it clearly states that BranchAdmins group must be able to install updates and drivers on the domain controllers in the branch offices. Notice it does not say on ALL DCs.

The suggested answer is: B which is to add the group to the domain admins group.

If we do that, aren't we also allowing them to do the same thing on the DC in main?

Having no explanantion there also makes me think that Q was overlooked.

I think the answer would be A. Configure Administration Role Separation.

(However, support of tape storage drivers is still included in Windows Server 2008.) Windows Server Backup supports backing up to external and internal disks, DVDs, and shared folders."

Re: Exam C, Q13 I guess we will just have to agree to disagree. The solution you suggest (using slamgr.exe to reset the license) assumes facts not in evidence. And does that really sound like something Microsoft would approve of?

I am not sure about that question, but if you assign a RemoteApp by group policy, the users have automatically avaliable the application: shortcut in start menu and file extension association.

You have to list a series of steps to deploy a 64-bit only application. The dump says that you should deploy the app to a remote desktop server, publish it as a remote app, assign it via group policy. Why wouldn't you just sequence it and stream it? Again, App-V is available.

The application will be deployed in branch office in which the computers are running Windows XP SP3 and maybe are planning to change to VMs.

One of the requirements is minimize use of CPU & Memory on VMs -> Remote APP on RD Session Host in both questions

The testlet says that the main office client computers are configured as MED-V and App-V clients. So why would you use Remote App (in question 1) or RD Virtualization Host (in question 2) when you could just use App-V?

Hi again, I think in City Power and Light testlet question 8 is wrong.

Office 2003 and Office 2010 must run concurrently and when users are offline.

The only valid questions would be Windows XP Mode and MED-V.

MED-V is easier to implement, I think is the right question.

@stonecold the research requirement mentions nothing about remote access, the sales department require a remote solution not the research. you're asked specifically about the research department. so share point wouldnt be a required solution, shadow copies would be better suited in my opinion.

Sharepoint will cost additional AND doesnt provide the functionality to recover a deleted file from a previous version. SHadow copies is teh answer here as it meets both teh recovery and the cost options

best of luck to anyone who's taking this test soon. parting words of wisdom, know the material not the letters that correspond to the answers, MS have added new questions and also changed the order of the answers so when you sit it may not look the same as your practice at home.

Time is not a factor in the exam. for the 21 questions you get the best part of an hour, 2-3 minutes a question. considering it is a multiple choice test and teh answer is in fron t of you that should be ample if you have the knowledge.

You get 5-7 testlets with 3-5 questions in each. each testlet is timed for between 15 & 20 minutes. so taking 2 minutes per question with a total of 5 questions (theres an average of 4 questiosn per testlet) that gives a remaining 5-10 minutes to read the scenario so again time should not be a factor in this test. I recommend you do read teh scenario fully to make sure nothing has been changed. Each Testlet is timed independantly, so you do one, once you are finished answering the questions and move on the clock stops and resets to 20 minutes once teh next testlet is loaded and so on. .

if you're given paper in the test USE IT. if stuff pops into your head from reading a question write it down it may help you answer a question later on. iyou may have a few minutes before the test begins to write stuff down also, depends on the centre i guess.

Exam C Q9. preference can be changed by teh user but once teh Group Policy Refresh happens then teh settings will revert to what is in teh GPP

So is that not your solution?

@negrinhaum Exam S Q1. if you look at teh comment from teh self paced handbook DCS it says that DCS can execute commands when something happens. it even gives and example just like in teh question. ie when teh disk space fals below 30%. So it seesm that DCS is what you need here.

FSRM CAN run scripts but DCS is a better option here.

Re BramchCache Vs DFS. I agree witj TEST, Cache wont help them locate files better, DFS will because everything is central to one namespace, teh actual server names will be irrleevant to teh users.

@ Robster, yeah teh New Q will have a note before teh question starts stating its new.

basically you're migrating the PCs to Win 7 but for compatibility issues you cant upgrade teh server.

@alain: Agree, I'd go for normal group policy too.

@alain the problem is you are building a test platform that will last 180 days and you've to limit costs. To install licensing you need to pay. If you use slamgr.exe -rearm it can reset the trial period so you can get something like 240 additional days. I'd look to see if that works with the remote licensing. Coz I'm pretty sure it works with exchange

I think the answer should be C not B. If you read the explanation text, it reads, 'This capability provides you with the flexibility to decide which settings to enforce and which not to enforce. You can deploy settings you do not want to enforce by using Group Policy Preferences.' Since the question states that you need to enforce printer settings, that would seem to rule out Group Policy Preferences.

In exam R (SOFA) : Q2, I believe answer should be B instead of answer D. Because GPO3 is not being asked anywhere also the Prevent the settings in domain-level GPOs from being applied to client computers iin the computer lab, The answer should definitely be B.

I remember one more question. The question was like some admin wants to deploy web site with less attack surface, high available solution with minimal cost. Which one would you recommend? There are more than one correct answers but chose the best option.

Just a headsup Dedulas. I believe some answers are still wrong. I checked my answers were same as mentioned in version 4.8 but still got some wrong.

Overall I must say all questions were from these dumps. Just couple of say 3-4 questions new.

@bon I've had issues with my transcript being printer but it appeared on the mcp site within 48 hours. Are you certain you entered the correct info at the test centre? The correct prometric sr number etc? Maybe speak to the centre where you sat the test. If you got a printout of your results then MS should have them so there must be an admin problem maybe a bad email address or a digit wrong in your candidate number.

Does anyone have any issue with a test score report from the test station NOT being linked to the MS headquarters after you pass the exam?

I took the MCITP exam & pass, got printed out 2 weeks ago, but no announcement from MS via mail..Congratulations..I called them 5 days after my exam, they said give them 7-10 business days, data should be updated. I called today (after 2 weeks), still an issue. And the issue is, I spent my day calling them and it is going around in circle, no result. I need to see my CERTIFICATE.

One new Question about "Graphic Desing institute Case B". The question si about migrate Northridege computer to Windows 7 but this computes in XP have adm files. Northridge domain contolers not migrate to 2008 R2. The question is if you do ADMX with the options of ADM files, or copy ADM files to boston Domain controlers, or copy ADM files to unit C: of Northrige Domain Controlers. Sorry do not remember well.

I can confirm they have mixed them up. Know a lad that sat and passed today with 820 on this dump. 2 new question one I think it was GDI not sure the other. I'll get details but its the same new Q we had. As for mixing them up. Time permitting I will but I can only do on some based on the comments in the explanations. I'M sitting monday so don't expect a new release this weekend but I'll release tuesday or wednesday and I'll create a new thread for version 5.0

just a quick note on 4.7 version is the q marked as a new q where the answer is multicast, one of the other options happen to be unicast. other than that i had one new q in one of the testlets that i really cant remember but was easy to get if you read the q and exibit. all and all, all the other q's came out of this dump. i didnt do to well, but i guess getting 2 days to study this i couldnt have done any better . thanks dedulas. you saved me

for those of you studying this, dont memorise the positions of the answers it wont work. also do yourself the favour of actually learning the topic instead of just brain dumping this

With regards to Sem comment, maybe we should mix the answers up to help people nail the test.

Guys just a comment on DFS vs branchcache. If one of your requirements is to limit wan usage then dfs may be the answer as dfs uses remote differential compression that accuratly identifies the changes in files.

@sem congrats. I hear you with the changes. Even if you remember the answer is D make sure on the day MS haven't swapped them about. I've seen it, happened to me :) also read the testlets, we've been told a few times now that some have subtle changes so make sure you take care.

and the other user requirement which says "single point of..."

Ya take a day off lol. Anyway the Data Collector question with the hard drive space. If you read back in the comments its been covered before. DCS is the answer, I put up either a link or an extract from a MS book that is exactly what's required 20% disk space left and delete files, almost certain its in the dump too. But dcs is right.

As for the other one, dfs gives a single place for all files to be located, all users use the same path to get to them. If its domain based it won't mayyer which file server its located on and then replication takes care of the redundancy, branch cache only works if the files have been accessed before I think.

That is a very good link. The only potential issue I can see there is that you still have to apply some kind of quota to the volume as the volume reporting doesn't allow a script to be run. Only reports to be generated. Volumes can change but the quota would have to be modified or it would run the script to early.

"You can even choose to execute a command when a threshold is reached, which is shown on the screen below. If you are skilled with scripting, you can use this ability to perform a number of sophisticated tasks." i presume this means scripting to delete temp files.. what do you think.?

That link was an example of how you would go about it, not en exact "do this and this and this and it will work" example.

In this question we are only being asked to run a script when diskspace is low. You can use DCS to write to the event logs when a threshold is reached and you can use event logs to trigger a script when a specific event is recorded. We are not being asked about the script in particular so you can ignore that. The question is what would you use to trigger a script when disk space is low.

Just remember that I'm at work so I can't trawl the net for EXACT examples. I just have to find ones that display the functionality we need and run with those

@negrinhaum - In terms of the users being unable to locate files. That won't be helped by branch cache as user still access the files how they normally would. It's just that if the doc exists in the cache, it will be pulled from there rather than going over the WAN. The users don't know the cache exists and can't see it.

A DFS namespace can also be used with DFS-R. This also allows the redundancy and reduced access times they have asked for. To my knowledge a hosted cache won't help in a server failure as every time a doc is opened, the caching server goes to the main server to check for updates. If the main server fails then the cache can't check this. Also, the cache only copies docs that have been opened before. Anything that hasn't been cached won't be accessible in the event of the main server failing. Ignore this though as it is not relevant to the question.

With this question they have ONLY asked about the user requirements. Forget about the technical requirements as they have been specified in the question. If it meets what's been asked and doesn't go against the environment then go with that answer; which in this case is DFS Namespaces

@testy, i've seen the site. this is what the site says at the end "These steps may not to be the best practice." hence its not microsoft's best practice.
but thats not the issue the question clearly states "A script must run that DELETES temp file" not just creat a report. i happend to do a little of VB.NET. in that site you gave theres no script that goes to C:system.. that deletes temp files.
so pls verify again. so we can make ammendment if necessary thanks.man

Just re-read the question and requirements. Can FSRM run scripts when certain criteria are met? That's what DCS and eventlogs are designed for. You would do the same as in my below example but set it to run a script rather than send an email (or both)

I've done something similar before. You set the DCS to write an event when a condition is matched and then you can set the event logs to email you when that event turns up (if you don't know how to script in VBS as they do in the example above X-D)

@dedulas, look at proseware,inc Q"you need to recommend a monitoring solution for the file server that meets the tech req" your answer is A-DCS. but feel its wrong it should be B-FSRM quota.
reasons: read the requirements well,it says the disk space on.. if any file server has less than 20%... a script must run..
hence only FSRM focuses on quota and generates report if you set a HARD quota. DCS just monitors reliability and perfoms and has noting to do with " less than 20% of disk space shortage".

@testy looked at that WDS question again. Checked the 6433A courseware book, lab 14 has you configuring a server to boot from a LOCAL vhd backup, you configure it from the command line and when the server boots the option to boot from vhd backup is there so I think its safe to assume the option to use wds is there, the lad in question is almost identical to the question in test U

Re Exam U Q6 if you lok to teh explanations on Exam B Q23 it more or less says WDS can be used for backup Image recovers using WinRE and PXE and if teh server fails to boot it goes into winre automatically
