this book caontain 514 pages...do i need to through every page or just exercise question alone can make my way for success?
any precious comments?
Still valid in Germany. Observer the comments and use your knowledge. Passed with 9XX.
Still valid in Brazil. I passed with 8xx
Just took this today and passed with an 8XX, studying the exam as is. The test was actually only 50 questions but I studied all of it anyways. Thanks!
I ment 'Dump' offcourse.
Passed today with this jump and the corrections.
Thnx.
passed today with 8XX. all questions from this dump. many thanks to Bamby.
All the questions from this dumps. Passed today with 8XX.
Thanks a million Bamby
@dds@ss.com
Please read carefully. SP 2013 by default supports FULL to support better dis'recovery with SQL Server 2012. In case if we are using SQL Server 2008 R2 with SP1 then we can use Simple but still change from the last backup will be lost. If we still need to go with this options then we need to backup content DB more frequent. It is not suggested if the content DB are larger than 100 GB bcoz it takes at least 30 mins to backup content DB and system resources will be used to backup purpose not the performance purpose.
Chinna
Default recovery model =
Full. We recommend that you switch the configuration database to the simple recovery model to restrict growth of the log file.
I think = Simple
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc678868.aspx
I used this dump plus the corrections. I got an 885 all of the questions in my test came from the dump except for 1 new question.
It's a hot spot where it says that you need to configure permissions for a web application in central administration.
It gives several permissions that need to be applied and asks where you need to start.
The correct answer is permissions level button.
You need to create a permission level
Create the group (if it is not already setup)
Then assign the permission level to the group
The dump is enough to get you through as long as you incorporate the corrections.
Guys, For SP 2013 farm, SQL Server Recovery model supposed to be FULL not simple.
Mostly valid. Passed with 8xx today.
Manage Lists = Create and delete lists, add or remove columns in a list, and add or remove public views of a list.
Dependent permissions = View Items, View Pages, Open, Manage Personal Views
Permission Level = Edit, Design, Full Control, Manage Hierarchy
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
There are multiple answers for the following question:
You need to configure the minimum level of permissions necessary for users to manage lists in the site collection.
----------------------------
What Correct ?????
1) edit
2) design
3) full control
4)Limited Access
I think answer = EDIT
Why ?????????????????
have 6 Question . and have more one answer ?????????
Still valid in the US as of Aug 17th. Make sure you use the corrections though!
Thank you for your comments chinna, thank u bart and the rest. I passed with 814. All the questions from this dump. I used the corrections 2.
Let me tell you, thanks to all who is trying to share knowledge to SP community here.
My suggestions is please go through the 70-331 book once. I have got all answers from that book. off Corse this dump helped to understand the knowledge I have.
Not to hurt any one here, there are some questions that are having incorrect answers. If I find some more time surely I'll update you all.
@CrazyD: You absolutely correct, It was my bad that I have read as 5 content databases.
@Writing 2moro: this is dump is still valid, I cleared the exam with best score.
But one thing is for sure. Make sure you clearly know the web application configuration and maintenance.
Looks fun right!!! yes even after 10 years experience the question on this topic was the one's I felt tricky.
Good luck for the exam. by the way there was one new question for me
"There is a team XXX they need full control policy on the web application which best option you select in CA". Answer was User Policy
@Chinna for Mixed Question, Q6 you do need a new Search Service Application because in the SharePoint 2013 Limits and Boundaries you have a maximum of 5 crawl databases.
Crawl databases
5 per Search service application
Boundary
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc262787.aspx#Search
Chinna, wich dump did you use? Please help.
Q5 - Larger company
Just I am think out of the box - microsoft way or a client perspective
I can't recomend to have hybrid servsers or Diversity/mixer of OS in the farm, Firts of all I don't have option of win server 2012 so next what? no choice for me now, so
1. Windows server 2008 R2 with SP1 is the minimum requirements for SP 2013
2. App model framework for IIS is .NET 4.5 minimum for SP 2013
Now for SQL server I can't recomend SQL Server 2013, it becomes hybrid application model. So
to make it consistance I'll recond only SQL Server 2008 Rs with SP which is again for SP 2013
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Q66 - Mixed questions
View Only
Limited Access
Read
Contribute
Edit
Design
Full Control
there are two paths in here one is who can manage items list or site and the other one is who can manage items and site and list itself.
So when it comes to list Edit is the min permission req for editing list settings and when it comes to manage site design is the min permission req.
It is tricky here if I have edit permissions I can also manage list along with Site (s) but if I have edit permissions I can manage list(s). so look for the choices in the answers.
Again don't confuse with Limited Access, "Limited Access is designed to be combined with fine-grained permissions to enable users to access a specific list, document library, folder, list item, or document, without enabling them to access the whole site" again it has to be combined with Edit or design to manage list or site respectively
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Q7 - A.Datum
I am not quite getting this question, partner comp. are getting connected and AD FS is involved so this options are quite good candidates. Can some help me explanation plz
Q5 - Blue Yonder Airlines
looks like some thing is missing in case study, For SP 2013 Win Server 2008 R2 is not sufficient. It needs SP1 for win server 2008 otherwise Win Server 2012 is the minimum req.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Q5 - Mixed question
I think the correct choices are
Queryable and Refinable
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Q8 - Mixed Questions
Can some one help on this question question and Answer area is not matching.
otherwise correct answers is
Managers/Arch --> Manage Web Site or Manage Hierarchy
Sales --> To edit office doc online 'Client integration feature' has to be enabled otherwise documents can only be saved to disck and edit from disk.
Note
there are no permission level like Apply Style Sheets or Manage Web Site or View web analytics data
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Q2 - Blue Yonder Airlines
Correct orders is
1. As the search service admin configure service application settings in CA
2. Select Search serv application that contains margiestravel.BlueYonderAirlines.com
3. enable continuous crawl on Margie;s people search content source
Chinna,
tnx for your corrections. I overlooked the database requirements on the SP2013 page. And about anonymous access you are right too. It's a checkbox in Security -> Authentication Providers -> (zone)
Passed with 8xx.
All questions from this dump and used the corrections in the comments (thanks Bamby, Bart, Chinna). Still a lot of wrong answers but enough to get you through.
@ chinna, thanks, I postponed to the day after tommoro, please let me know
Mixed Question Q6
I believe it should be 'Add new crawl data base to existing search service'. As per the question need is to have dedicated crawl DB not the dedicated search services itself. In multi server farm mode, Search service app can be configured to have more than one crawl databases with specific content database
@writing tommoro: Sorry it is 'Chinna' not China. :) any way I am also going for exam tomorrow. I have gone through the 07 - 331 book & had configured all the service in SP2013 couple of time. Now, Looking at all these dumps for my confidence; I can update tomorrow EST 5:30 PM. But looking at our friends comments looks like these are still valid.
Mixed Question
It should be Security.
In case if we need to setup Anonymous policy for any group or any specific user then we can policy. In this question it is required to anonymous access to the web application that mean it goes to security, and as per dump answer is right.
Mixed Question Q23
1. Create crawl rule that includes all sub dir
2. include all items in the path
3. Specify a content access account
Bcoz when we configure search, We create a content access account as domain account and register to SharePoint and then use that account for Search service component configuration. Even if we have to configure new crawler component with dedicated search service and or dedicated index component. Do not use farm account from search or for app pools or for search.
In this case study, external identity management is used for user authentication so best candidate is 'specify content access account' whatever it is that can be authenticated by the external system & has access to the public site and its sub dirs. and by making sure that search services runs under the domain account reg. with SharePoint and has access to crawl database.
@Bart: Refer to the link below,
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc262485.aspx#section4
Minimum software requirements
The 64-bit edition of Windows Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 1 (SP1) Standard, Enterprise, or Datacenter or the 64-bit edition of Windows Server 2012 Standard or Datacenter
• The SharePoint parsing process crashes in Windows Server 2008 R2 (KB 2554876)
◦ Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 (KB 2759112)
◦ Windows Server 2012 (KB 2765317)
So Minimum req is Win Server 2008 R2 with SP1
Large Company Q5:
Operating system for database should be Windows 2008 SP2
SP 2013 requires SQL 2008 R2 or newer. Although SP 2013 requires Windows 2008 R2 SP1, SQL 2008 R2 requires Windows 2003 SP2.
Since Windows 2003 and 2003 R2 are out of the mainstream support Windows 2008 with SP2 is the best minimal candidate.
Bart, Thank you for the updates. Very much appreciate and timely.
Passed the exam yesterday, got 871 (several errors in the case studies)
* Photo processing Q8:
Should be: server-to-server not OAuth.
From the case: App1 must use Windows Authentication
When using OAuth, the user is authenticated by SharePoint and an access token is created and exchanged by using Windows Azure Access Control Service.
The App does not authenticate the user, but receives the user from the token.
When using S2S authentication the user is authenticated by the App (e.g. by using Windows Authentication) and SharePoint "trusts" the App for providing the correct user principals when calling the APIs.
BlueYonder Airlines Q2:
The order is incorrect. Should be:
* first as search service administrator configure service application settings in central admin
* then select the search service application that contains margietravel.blueyonderairlines.com
* then enable continuous crawl on margie's tracel people search content source
* BlueYonder Airlines Q5:
Should be:
B: 4-core virtual machine
F: Virtual machine running Windows 2008 R2 (not physical host)
From case: all servers must run on virtual machines
* BlueYonder Airlines Q7:
Should be:
A: Turn on Replicable setting
D: Set the default privacy setting to everyone (not My Team)
E: Turn off the User can override policy setting
Only Public (Everyone) and Private (Only Me) privacy settings are available in SP2013.
The other options (Contacts, Organization, Manager) are deprecated and only availabe in upgrade from SP2010 scenario's.

Hi Bart,
Thanks for your comments! According to your answer, here is my feedback :
F Q17: Correct
F Q3: Correct
F Q51: Correct
F Q44: Correct
F Q26: Correct
F Q1: Can't be sure because they are playing with "service" and "service application" for this kind of questions (several of them). I will see in the exam what the question will say .
For the other, I did not have time to double-check :)
I have the exam tomorrow so I will have a look about it and can update/upload a new version of the testking!
F Q1:
In the screenshot, the service to configure is Non-Indented, "Managed Metadata Service Application".
The indented one is the proxy (or connection) for the service.
Wait, I verified. Both items are correct and will open the Terms Store Manager. I still would choose the first one when answering an exam question.
F Q17:
The answer shoul be:
* Create a permission level named manage permission that has the manage site permission
* Create a group named accounts, assign the Manage Permission level (not create permission level)
* set option for editing membership to group membership
note that the second answer is different.
F Q26:
Should be Developer Dashboard & ULS logs, not Security Event log
The ULS logs do have a correlationID. You can even use PowerShell to get and filter ULS logs on e.g. correlationID.
The (Windows) Security event log only has authentication events.
F Q28:
The SharePoint Web Analytics Service Application is depricated in SP2013.
I think the developer dashboard is the best candidate.
F Q44:
The order of the answers should be:
* Create managed path for the web application
* In a content database separate from that of the intranet site create a site collection
* In the root site for the site collection, grant permissions
You cannot grant permissions in a site collection that is not created yet.
F Q51:
Should be queryable and refinable, not retrievable.
A property that is retrievable can be used to display in the search result, but not to refine the search result.
See http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj219667.aspx, search for "If you want to be able to use this managed property as a refiner, you must select both Refinable and Queryable."
F Q3:
Should be Policy, not Security. The policy ribbon group contains a button for anonymous policy. You can verify at screenshot at question F Q7.
Question C Q5 :
Answer should be B/F instead of B/D as all servers must run on VM and 4-core VM requirement
Question F Q17 :
The second answer is incorrect. Should be
"Create a group named Accountats. Assign the MANAGE PERMISSIONS permission level to the Accountants group"
instead of
"Create a group named Accountats. Assign the CREATE PERMISSIONS permission level to the Accountants group"
Hi guys,
I edited the previous VCE from DonDatta (http://www.examcollection.com/microsoft/Microsoft.PracticeTest.70-331.v2013-06-17.by.DonDatta.123q.vce.file.html) with all your comments/fixes and added mine too. I am not satisfy with some answers but I did not have time to fix them (and find explanations). I will do it when I will be more available.
Thank you to all the contributors : garfield_01, MrDonivan, Ahmed and so on (sorry for those I am missing!)
Hope it helps
