I agree but it would be good practice imo to try and renew the IP through DHCP at least once before moving on to troubleshoot why it cannot reach the DHCP server (it is transported via UDP, so a failure could certainly occur for one reason or another.line noise/cross interference, dropped frame etc) or in your case assign it a static IP but then you would need to find the pool of available IPs and make sure it's not already allocated or in a reserved pool etc., then document and likely update a db etc.DNS will need this information, too.

Question 3 on Exam E.Better justification is:
the automatic IP addressing of 169.254.x.x occurs because the machine is not able to communicate with a DHCP server. So running ipconfig /renew is pointless. So logical choice is to set static IP.
