Well how many Overall questions do we have to attempt in INDIA to Pass VCP-510 Exam i.e VmWare vSphere ICM 5.1 ( Install, Configure, Manage ) Certification Exam.
Is it 85 or something else ?
Also do we get 2 Hours i.e 120 Minutes for attempting the Overall Questions ?
Still valid, passed today. Thanks Gubu My personal also recommends to use Training Signal David Davis and Elias Khnaser Video, VMware vSphere 5.
Valid. Passed today.
Still Valid Passed today. 3-5 new questions. Thanks Gubu
Took the exam yesterday. The dump is valid. Thanks Gubu!
@Oplix I would appreciate if you can share your exam experience with reference to this dump, after attempting it on Thursday. Thanks
All questions From this dump, passed exam on 19th
Thanks Gubu
I used this dump only = 450 out of 500 - thanks Gubu
I have passed VCP 510 Exam today with score 470. All questions were from this Dump. Thanks Gubu.
Passed the Exam today 428 Marks, only 2 questions were different
Answers are shuffled :-)
Thanks a Ton Gubu
The new version is up. It contains 395 questions - 370 from passguide's VCP5-DCV (VCP-510) released August 16th and 25 from VMware's mock exam.
As usual the questions are broken up in exams of 50 questions. The sections are roughly based on the exam blueprint.
I've check more answers and added more explanations. The slightly increased file size is due to more pictures in the explanations.
I've removed duplicates F30 and B21. Corrected D12, A41 and C21 with help from Raj, Oplix and Damian. Included 7 "new" question H39 to H45.
@John: Check out this VMware KB titled "Guest Operating System Reports 10Mbps Speed when Host Adapter is 100Mbps or Higher". http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US&cmd=displayKC&externalId=856
It goes some way to explaining the answer?
Exam D Q10: I thought the answer is A. The vm can send at the max of 10Mbps. instead of B. The vm can send traffic as fast as the underlying virtual switch allows. My reason: The vm is using an old 10Mbps network driver, can it send any faster than that?
@Oplix - C21. Raj came to the same conclusion so I've changed it in the next version which I uploaded on Friday. I'm still waiting for it to be displayed.
Gubu, found another one I think should be chnaged
(Exam C Q21)
When an Explicit failover order has been configured on a virtual switch with multiple uplinks, what determines which uplink is used when a failover event occurs?
A. The next available uplink on the list
B. The first available uplink that reports a positive link state
C. The reported uptime for the surviving uplinks
D. The uplink with he shortest route
In the Exam it says C (the reported uptime for the surviving uplinks) is the right answer, but in the question it says that an explicit failover order HAS been configured so I think the correct answer should be A (the next available uplink on the list)
Passed it with no problem. Thanks GUBU! Every question was covered in your dump. Thanks for organizing into sections and for removing all the passguide advertisements. I hope others use your format it makes studying a category and focusing in on it much easier. I would of got a perfect score if I didn't forget some of the multiple choice questions.
I just passed the Exam.
Thanks Gubu for the nice effort.
the Exam questions were the same but Options had been changed.
In particular I remember they changed the host, driver and Vib compatiablity level to VMwareCertified.
Passed today! This dump is still valid
@Raj: So you're saying that vmkernel would take 16 ports from the 128 for it's own use. I'm confused to why vmkernel would require another 8 ports for the secondary heartbeat.
According to VMWare kb Reserved or overhead ports for virtual switches (1008040) "To account for overheads such as physical NIC ports (uplinks), CDP traffic, and network discovery, ESX 3.x, ESX/ESXi3.5.x, and ESX/ESXi 4.x allocate and reserve an additional eight ports per virtual switch beyond what is available for virtual machine use"
Even though it mentions ESXI 3/4 in the wording it applies to ESXi5.1.
http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US&cmd=displayKC&externalId=1008040
Thanks Gubu
Regarding QA47
Even if we calculate, a vmkernel reserves 8 ports for its own usage on a vswitch. That is why a default vswitch provides us with 128-8=120 ports. If we are adding a secondary Heartbeat network which warrants a new vmkernel. that means net usable ports will be reduced to 120-8=112. We require 116. Which means a change is required to the vswitch
I've uploaded a new version of my dump with 3 questions (A41, C21 and D12) corrected and 2 duplicates (B21 and F30) removed. Thanks for Oplix, Raj and Damian for their input. I also added pictures and explanations to E14, E17, H4 and H11.
Hi Gubu,
Cleared the exam today Score : 467/500
Thanks so much for your help !!!
@Gubu
Thank you!!!
@Gubu: I passed vcp exam today. all questions appeared from ur dump.
Thank you so much.:)
@Raj: QC21. I think you're right; the current answer would be right if explicit failover was not configured. I'll correct the question.
@All - I'm going to upload a new dump with the corrected questions and removed duplicates. Someone asked for a version without the VMware mock exam questions - I'm going to leave them in because sometimes they turn up in the real exam.
@Raj: A47. Semantics/interpretation of what VMware means by a "change" and "default". My view view is that the word "default" means the default switch with 120 ports with 8 uplinks and that "change" means changing the number of ports to something else. "Sufficient" usually has something to do with quantity and so I see the question as asking if we must add extra ports to the switch rather than the type of port.
Your interpretation is equally valid because we would have to add an extra vmkernel port to the switch.
QC21
The answer should be C) next available uplink on the list.
Explanation:
it has been stated that Explicit failover order has been configured on a vSwitch with multiple uplinks and whenever Explicit failover order is configured, it fails over to next available uplink.
@Gubu
Question A7.
From the explanation notes. I went to the attached HTML page link.
http://pubs.vmware.com/vsphere-51/index.jsp?topic=%2Fcom.vmware.vsphere.update_manager.doc%2FGUID-46B7F8AE-BFDC-4C42-9E75-B80D71423B6D.html
It states that Hosts should not be connected to vcenter as ipv6.
vCenter Appliance does not support ipv6 at all. So hosts will never be connected to it using ipv6 to begin with.
@Gubu
Question a47.
I understand your logic and i agree with that.
But in order to add Secondary HA heartbeat network. Achange will be required in the form of a vmkernel to the vswitch0. the catch word is dafault vswitch0.
@Raj: Question A47 - about changes to vswitch0 following an upgrade from 4.1 to 5.x.
Here's how I see it:
By default a standard vSwitch has 120 ports for VM and vKernel NICs, and 8 reserved ports for the uplinks.
So a standard vSwitch would be enough: 116 for the VM's and 2 (dual HA) for the vKernel NICs = 118 ports (less than 120) and 4 uplinks (less than 8) so everything fits
on a standard vSwitch without any modification.
@Raj: Question A7 about remediation - Another vague question from VMware. I interpreted it as asking about remediating virtual appliances (plural) and not the vCenter Server Appliance.
Exam A. Q47
An Administrator has been tasked with upgrading an existing host from ESXi 4.1 to ESXi 5.x. The existing host has vswitch0 with default settings.
The upgraded host will have the following requirements.
116 VM
4 uplinks
heartbeat network
Your Answers are: A) The Service Console port will be removed during the upgrade.
and C) The default vSwitch0 is sufficient for this configuration
I believe that the answers should be A and D. the change to vswitch0 is required.
Explanation: Secondary Heartbeat Network for HA needs to be added. Hence a change is required to be made to the vSwitch0.
Hello Gubu,
I had a question regarding the following:
An Administrator is using Update Manager 5.x to update virtual appliances. The environment is using vCenter Appliance. What would cause remediation to fail.
According to you the answer is (d) Remediation requires the hosts to be connected to vCenter using ipv4.
I believe that the answer should be (c) Remediation of vCenter Server Applicance with update manager is not supportted.
Explanation: vCenter Appliance doesnt support ipv6 to begin with, so there is question of hosts being connected to it using ipv6, hence it is a wrong answer.
@Damian: You're definitely right. For QA41 it should be D "Set the Trigger if all of the conditions are satisfied radio button".
@VMchecker: Thanks for the feedback. Can you remember any of the new questions? If you like the dump just vote for it.
@Oplix: I'll change the Q12 Exam D answer to A. "Set CPU Share to High" in the next edition, and I'll remove the duplicate question, I also found other duplicates: B21/F31. I won't be releasing a new version until I've got more new questions. Thanks for your time.
The question in the first Exam A: ACME party supplies corporation has a requirement to monitor all virtual machines.. You've put correct answer A, C, and E. There is some debate over A B and C because there is no exact answer but pretty sure out of D and E it should be D because it states "when any VM exceeds 65% memory utilization AND 75% CPU utilization. If it was "OR" it would be E
Hello,
these questions are still valid. Passed today with 465/500
Only 2-3 new/modified questions.
Best regards
Thanks for the update. Been studying your other one since I like the way you section off the questions. Will start using this one now.
Hi Gubu,
thanks a lot for your wonderful work.
Is there a possibility do give you a donation for your effort?
How can I donate?
Best regards,
vmchecker
@Gubu
Also noticed this question is duplicated (Exam F, Q30 and Exam B Q43)
"An administrator finds that an ESXi host cannot be manged by vCenter Server. Which logs can be reviewed using the DCUI?
@Gubu
It does show only a single host in that screenshot, However everything that I learned about CPU Ready is that you Decrease vCPU's to get rid of ready time. that is why that answer was so confusing to me.
it is a great dump though I have my test next Thursday and an studying like crazy from it to get ready for it glad you posted this updated version.
@Oplix I went with the default passguide default answer. I'm going from memory here - I think the exhibit shows the vSphere client attached to a single ESXi host. It could be CPU share which would increase the priority and decrease the wait time?
@Julio Either one would do; both have the same questions although mine has about 30 extra from vmware's mock exam. I'd like to think mine is better because it has been edited, has sections added, more explanations and I've given it a lot of time and TLC.
anyone know where to get dumps for the new VCAP exams?
VDCD510 or the VDCA510?
Kannan,
The question is this:
vCenter Server is running in a virtual machine that is part of a vSphere HA and DRS cluster. The vCenter Server virtual machine has been tested and can successfully migrate with vMotion between all ESXi hosts in the cluster. DRS is configured for partial automation.
What happens if an ESXi host that is running the vCenter Server virtual machine experiences a power outage?
A.
All DRS cluster operations will be unavailable until the failed ESXi host is brought back online.
B.
vCenter Server will remain offline, but all virtual machines on the remaining hosts will continue without interruption.
C.
This situation cannot occur, because vCenter Server cannot be installed on a virtual machine in a vSphere HA cluster.
D.
vSphere HA will restart the vCenter Server virtual machine on another host.
In the question it says its part on an HA and DRS cluster, if thats the case the anwser is D HA does not require vCenter to be running.
Hi Gubu,
question : vcenter is running on a VM . DRS is enabled. What happens when the host experiences a power outage where the vcenter VM is running ?
your answer is vsphere will restart the VM on a different host. but how? becoz in qn, they didnot mention that HA is configured. only the DRS. so, on which basics the vsphere will restart the VM.
may be I understood wrong. Plz provide more explanation
Gubu,
There is a question in the Dump where it asks "Which change will eliminate the symptom in the performance chart shown in the exhibit"
Answers are as follows:
A) Set CPU Share to High
B) Set CPU affinity for the virtual machine
C) Migrate the VM to a host that is less utilized
D) Add a CPU to the Virtual machine
It says the correct answer is D) Add a CPU to the Virtual Machine
Ready Time is caused by having to many vCPU's so I don't see how this can be the answer to this question.
Hi Gubu,
which dump do you suggest to study and is more actual? Your dump or the Riot's dump? Thanks for the information!
P.s. my exam will take place in Semptember
@Pradeep It should be enough but maybe you're leaving it a little late to start studying now?
This is the latest version of my dump. The dump covers the VCP-510/VCP5-DCV exam.
There are 390 questions: 7 exams of 50 questions each and 1 exam containing 40 questions.
It contains the latest (08-08-2013) questions from passguide although there doesn't seem to be many changes from July's version, 25 questions from VMWare's mock exam and a few from Riots' passguide dump. The sections are roughly based on the exam blueprint.
I've rechecked answers and added more explanations. The reference web links are now live (clickable).
If you disagree with any of the answers I'd appreciate if you say which ones are wrong, why they're wrong and what the correct answers are with reasons. I'm also seeking new questions.
Make sure you put a tick mark for the 2 choices ("Randomize questions" and "Randomize choices where enabled") on the General Tab in Options in VisualCert Exam Manager before you start. This will randomize the questions just like in the real exam.
