Well how many Overall questions do we have to attempt in INDIA to Pass VCP-510 Exam i.e VmWare vSphere ICM 5.1 ( Install, Configure, Manage ) Certification Exam.
Is it 85 or something else ?
Also do we get 2 Hours i.e 120 Minutes for attempting the Overall Questions ?
Thanks Spurs, I'll change D22 in the next version.
D22 When would an administrator configure Explicit Failover option for a portgroup created on a virtual switch with multiple uplinks?
So D22 is indeed (A)??? "To manually configure load balancing for the port group"
I selected (A), but got it wrong. The answer you had was (C) "When configuring iSCSI Software Initiator multipathing"
Which is it?

Hi fm,
I think the .vmsn could be a typo, it should be .vmss. There's no such file as .bios, a VMs BIOS file is .nvram and while .lck files exist they only exist for running VMs not templates.
That leaves us with the other 3 answers. I agree with you about the .vmsn but I think it's a typo.
hi Gubu
first of all, you are a star! - I have struggled to learn for this vcp5 exam from the previous dumps, so thanks to you putting this together !
also I have found a tiny mistake:
exam D, Q26 :
Suspended state file is not .vmsn
according to http://www.vmware.com/support/ws5/doc/ws_learning_files_in_a_vm.html
I passed exam with 455/500. Dump is still vaild in Turkey
Thanks Gubu
New update ready for download. Version 3.2
Duplicates Removed: G46
Corrected: D13, F1, G24, G26, E50, B36, A20
Thanks to Ozzy. KingJ, Rjf.
Passed the exam with 425/500. 2-3 new questions. Studied this dump and
VMWare passguide VCP-510 v2013-08-14 by Gubu84 390q.vce
VMWare passguide VCP-510 v2013-06-13 by Riot 369q.vce - this dump might have incorrect answers.
Great stuff Gubu84, I really appreciate your efforts on this.
Hello Gubu84,
Thanks for the fantastic job you've done so far. I agree for the ssh's question, you just have to start the service and it will work. No need to open the ssh port. Whereas the vlan's question, both are correct but in the official guide they didn't mention any hardware in the VLAN section, i think that the best answer is about security.
A virtual local area network (VLAN) is used to segment a single physical network into
multiple logical networks. VLANs are used in vSphere implementations for the following
reasons:
Simplifies ESXi host integration
Improves network security
Reduces network congestion
Isolates network traffic
Ozzy: Question has been updated. As you say SSH port 22 is open by default but the service is stopped by default. We also want the user to login with non-root privileges.
I'll update the dump and upload again.
Hi , A20 corrects are:
- start SSH service
-create a local user becouse:
I have never manually enable ssh rule on firewall after started the ssh service on esxi host newly deployed.
And the question say that a USER attempt to connect.so i don't want to give him root account ;)
I'm uploading a new version because we've corrected 6 questions (D13, F1, G24, G26, E50, B36) and removed 1 duplicate (G46).
Thanks to Ozzy. KingJ and Rjf.
Hi Rjf,
I decided to go back to the certification books to see if they offer any insight. The Official VCP5 Certification Guide talks about vLANS generally and how to configure them. Interestingly, Mastering vSphere 5 manages to combine both answers in figure 5.19 "Virtual LANs provide secure traffic segmentation without the cost of additional hardware." http://www.epubbud.com/read.php?g=8MVD69ZN&tocp=15.
Probably the best support for increased security is from the Install, Configure and Manage (5.1) courseware:
"Virtual switches are similar to modern physical Ethernet switches in many ways. Like a physical switch each virtual switch is isolated and has its own forwarding table, so every destination the switch looks up can match only ports on the same virtual switch where the frame originated. This feature improves security, making it difficult for hackers to break virtual switch isolation. Virtual switches also support VLAN segmentation at the port level, so that each port can be configured as an access or trunk port, providing access to either single or multiple VLANs.
However, unlike physical switches, virtual switches do not require a spanning tree protocol, because a single-tier networking topology is enforced. Multiple virtual switches cannot be interconnected and network traffic cannot flow directly from one virtual switch to another virtual switch on the same host. Virtual switches provide all the ports that you need in one switch. Virtual switches need not be cascaded because virtual switches do not share physical Ethernet adapters and leaks between virtual switches do not occur."
Considering both answers are valid which one do you think VMware prioritises?
Hi Rjf,
This is one of those ambiguous questions: increased security is valid and reduced hardware requirements is equally valid.
CCNA certification lists both as advantages for vlans
http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/CCNA_Certification/Switching
Question B36 answer is D
"According to the defining IEEE standards for Ethernet, a network segment is an electrical connection between networked devices."
According to the KB
"It secures network traffic"
Thnak you so much Gubu84! passed today , 422/500
The dump is still valid.
KingJ: the KB doesn't mention increased security on a network segment so I'm inclined to stick with the original answer.
Hi Jigz,
Q B13 is a single answer question, did you mistype? Also what exam is number 29 in?
Kingj
The answer is A , reduced hardware cost.
Hello Gubu84,
Regarding Exam B Q36, I think that the right answer is D.
Question: Which is an important benefit provided by VLANs?
A. Reduced hardware requirements = No
D. Increased Security on network segment = Right
http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US&cmd=displayKC&externalId=1003806
What do you think ?
Pass the exam with 455/500 (23/08) . Some options are rearranged and modified. Thanks Gubu and Riot
Thanks for your help. Also, for B q13 i got answer BC instead of BD is that correct? #29 i got C(Active Dirctory) is this correct? Thanks
Ozzy: QG24 How about BD?
Ad it does not say what type of RDM..
Virtual machine disks must be in persistent mode or be raw device mappings (RDMs). For virtual compatibility mode RDMs, you can migrate the mapping file or convert to thick-provisioned or thin-provisioned disks during migration as long as the destination is not an NFS datastore. If you convert the mapping file, a new virtual disk is created and the contents of the mapped LUN are copied to this disk. For physical compatibility mode RDMs, you can migrate the mapping file only.
Storage vMotion. You cannot invoke Storage vMotion for virtual machines with Fault Tolerance turned on. To migrate the storage, you should temporarily turn off Fault Tolerance, and perform the storage vMotion action. When this is complete, you can turn Fault Tolerance back on.
Ozzy, I'll change those 2.
G24 should be AB
RDM is not supported unless in virtual mode
storage vmotion is possibile with standar license
G26 should be B
you can't create new EVC baseline, and the baseline with few entry are the newest
Hi Jigz
A2: There's no "needs consolidation" column in the summary tab
A7: The question is about updating virtual appliances, not vCSA.
A38: The explanation supports BDE. Can you explain why do think BCE?
Ozzy: Could be. Lazy zero is slow on first write but would be fast after that.
fully provisioned = both thick modes
Ozzy: You're correct about where the inflate option is located. Maybe it is a poorly worded question. What do you think the correct answer should be?
Spurs: I think VMware would be more suspiciuos if you got every question correct.
Spurs: I won't think so - it is possible that people that the wrong answers to questions all the time.
Q:1F Does not exist inflate in datastore properties, but in browse datastore
Exam A. I found different answer from this dump let me know. #2 should be b,c #7 should be i got answer c and #38 should be BCE? Let me know if am wrong or this had wrong answer. Thnx
Does anyone know if VMware is using stealth questions (purposely having wrong answers in a question)?
I heard some companies are sending incorrect answers to test taking stations and if you pick the incorrect answers you automaticly fail and your employer gets notified (If they paid for your course and exam)
Passed my exam with a 455/500 all questions from this practice test. A couple of the answers were reworded but nothing major.
Thanks Gubu!
Exam H Q41 - Answer is D not C, I believe, http://www.aiotestking.com/vmware/2011/12/which-step-can-be-used-to-increase-the-performance-of-the-critical/
@Gubu: I think B is right. But also A could be true.or not?
@Ozzy: You're right, I think it should be B "vCenter Server will remain offline, but all virtual machines on the remaining hosts will continue without interruption." Do you agree?
Hi Gubu, Q D13: the cluster is configured only with DRS not for HA
Passed today(22/08/2013) with 450 marks using this dump. All questions from this dump. thanks Gubu.
@JE77: Question A7 - The question starts with "An administrator is using Update Manager 5.x to update virtual appliances" so C isn't an answer because we're not remediating the vCSA, and A can't be right either because update manager requires connectivity with vcenter server (it's a plugin of vcenter).
Also as far as I know you can only put a host into maintenance mode not a guest like vCSA.
Exam A, Q7: Both A & C should be correct.
Following the link you provided, the following is stated in the second "note":
"If a host is connected to vCenter Server by using an IPv6 address, you cannot scan and remediate virtual machines and virtual appliances that run on the host."
and..
"Remediation of VMware vCenter Server Appliance is not supported. For more information about upgrading the virtual appliance, see the vCenter Server upgrade documentation"
Passed today with 433 using this dump (8/18/2013) as well as a previous dump by Gubu (7/18/2013).
Valid in Indoensia. I just took the test today, score 444. And I used this dump only. Thank Gubu84
@Cookiesmonster: accurately speaking the exam covers 5.x, not specifically 5.1. This dump is valid for the current entry level exam (VCP-510 aka VCP5-DCV).
@Cookiesmonster: Yes it is. It's for the VCP-510 aka VCP5-DCV
Is this exam for vsphere 5.1 or an older version?
I passed 433/500. Thanks Gubu~~
Good job Gubu, I passed 450/500
I Extremely recommend this dump
Amazing !!!! Just passed today 450/500 matched 100% all the questions
I am sure the dump will be good, the Riot dump that is no where near as good as this one is reported as valid. This one has more questions then Riot and Gubu clear out all the junk.
I am sure I will be fine on the exam, my average score is around 900 if I pick 85 random questions
@Oplix I would appreciate if you can share your exam experience with reference to this dump, after attempting it on Thursday. Thanks
A duplicate slipped through: G46 is the same as C2.
@Oplix: Good luck with your exam. and thanks for the offer of help, I'd appreciate that.
@Manfred: I set the passing score to 800 on purpose to make it harder. If you can get 800 you're well on your way to learning the questions. Personally I aim for 950.
Gubu,
just got the new dump will check it out, thanks for the credit with helping you out with it. I take the exam on Thursday so I will try to remember any new questions and would be willing to help with it going forward.
PLEASE!!!!!
Can you correct the score from 800/1000 to the correct 600/1000?
Everytimw after the download I have to correct it, which is not possible on an ipad!
Thx
This dump contains 395 questions - 370 from passguide's VCP5-DCV (VCP-510) released August 16th and 25 from VMware's mock exam.
As usual the questions are broken up in exams of 50 questions. The sections are roughly based on the exam blueprint.
I've check more answers and added more explanations. The slightly increased file size is due to more pictures in the explanations.
I've removed duplicates F30 and B21. Corrected D12, A41 and C21 with help from Raj, Oplix and Damian. Included 7 "new" question H39 to H45.
